The young photographer Bas Meeuws makes beautiful, stylized photographic flower still lifes inspired by 17th century painting. Meeuws composes his photos as the old masters did: flower by flower, all luxury and beauty. The result is layered work that transcends time. Meeuws has created new work especially for this exhibition in which he has selected and photographed art objects from the museum's glass collection. He has processed the objects in new digitally composed flower still lifes. The exhibition shows an overview of works from Meeuw's entire oeuvre, from all over the world, including from India and Taiwan.
On Sunday 6 October 2019 at 3 pm, Jo-Ann Knop of Per van der Horst Gallery will provide an introductory tour of the Bas Meeuws exhibition.
