The exhibition 50 years of glass at the Rietveld Academy celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the glass department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and shows masterpieces from the permanent collection and new works by young talent. The glass department of the Rietveld Academy was the first in Europe and is still one of the most important glass courses in the world. A leading education that produced big names: from established names such as Mieke Groot, Richard Meitner and Bert Frijns to recently graduated Yuna Choi and Aleksi Marjamaa. The Academy challenges students to be experimental and innovative and to move with the material beyond the boundaries of the discipline. Glass is the central focus of recent graduates, combined with other media and materials.

The exhibition 50 years of glass at the Rietveld Academy has been realized in close collaboration with Jens Pfeifer, the current head of the glass department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy.

Participating artists: Joost Bicker Caarten, Sander Boeijink, Xandra Bremers, Marie De Bruyn, Anna Calgren, Simsa Cho, Yuna Choi, Bert Frijns, Lisa Gherardi, Vincent van Ginneke, Anna Gray, Mieke Groot, Susan Hammond, Esther Jiskoot, Mia Lerssi, Bert van Loo, Aleksi Marjamaa, Katrin Maurer, Richard Meitner, Milena Naef, Geir Nustad, Mica Okuno, Jens Pfeifer, Richard Price, Caroline Prisse, Laura Puska, Jenny Ritzenhoff, Ryoko Sato, Elizabeth Swinburne, Ellen Urselmann, Durk Valkema, Sybren Valkema and Gareth-Noël Williams.
