Lecture: Fashion with Piet Paris

  • Museum JAN 50 Dorpsstraat Amstelveen, NH, 1182 JE Netherlands (map)

Eddy Wenting

During this interactive fashion lecture, fashion expert Renee van der Hoek will have a conversation with illustrator Piet Paris.

Piet Paris selected fashion from leading Dutch designers like Viktor & Rolf, Claes Iversen and Benchellal for his exhibition. Why did he choose these specific designs? And what makes these designers trend-setting? Based on the exhibition themes, Van der Hoek talks in detail about the designers and developments in the changing Dutch fashion landscape. She then talks to Piet Paris to find out the personal motivations behind his spectacular selection.

Renee van der Hoek (1990) is a freelance curator and researcher. She currently works as a project manager for programmes & content at State of Fashion. State of Fashion is a fashion platform where alternative ideas are explored within the current fashion system. Central to this is the question: how can fashion contribute to a better world?. Van der Hoek is also a colleague of Piet Paris at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where she teaches 'Fashion & Textile Theory + Context'.
