The Amstelveen Children's Council believes it is important that every child can be themselves and enjoy going to school. Even if you look different, have a different belief, dress differently or love something else. That is why the Children's Council, in collaboration with Museum JAN, is organising the exhibition ‘Be yourself, score an eleven-word poem’. For this initiative, they invited all group 7 and 8 pupils in Amstelveen to send in a drawing and an eleven-word poem focusing on this theme.
This became a great success: a total of 15 schools and 42 classes participated. The entries will be on display in Museum JAN throughout the month of March. In addition, the jury – consisting of three members of the Children's Council, alderman Marijn Van Ballegooijen and museum teacher Pienk de Gaay Fortman – chose the following winners:
Karel Eykman - Summer, Loïs, Jayden, group 8C,
Triangle - Thijs, group 8B
Rembrandt - Florine, group 8A
Westwijzer - Zoé, group 8B
As an award, the classes of all winners will receive a workshop at Museum JAN. The Amstelveen Children's Council and Museum JAN would like to thank all teachers and students for their enthusiastic efforts and original creations!
