Dance in dialogue with Otto B. de Kat - A Dance Performance on Stage

  • Museum JAN 50 Dorpsstraat Amstelveen, NH, 1182 JE Netherlands (map)

Accessible to young and old on presentation of a museum ticket.

‘You have to paint what is your own life,’ Otto B. de Kat said in 1978.

His paintings do not show fleeting impressions, but a tranquil world full of pensive inspiration. Inspired by this atmosphere, dance teachers and performers bring Elodie Emilisa and Talitha Verbree his work to life in a unique dance performance on stage.

Be swept away by a poetic movement language that makes De Kat's themes tangible. How do we connect with the world, with each other, with art and the everyday? Through dance, the timeless essence of De Kat's work becomes tangible and creates a dialogue between painting and body language.

Dancers: Talitha Verbree & Elodie Emilisa

Elodie Emilisa is a choreographer, dancer and teacher, who is always looking for collaborations with musicians, fashion designers, visual artists, writers, videographers and theatre makers. She asks questions about how we can shape the world we live in, how we relate to each other, to nature, to society, to our roots. I explore and philosophise by thinking, doing, opening my senses to receive and expressing it through my body in dance.

Talitha Verbree, a graduate of the academy for dance education in Tilburg, where she did created several artistic projects. As a (dance) teacher, she finds it tremendously fun giving people a different view of the world, art or each other through dance.
