Guided tour Barbara Nanning exhibition by curator

  • Museum JAN 50 Dorpsstraat Amstelveen, NH, 1182 JE Netherlands (map)

As part of the exhibition Moving Stillness, Museum JAN is organising a tour in the exhibition of glassartist Barbara Nanning. The curator of the exhibition will tell you all about the inventive designs of Nanning. He will discuss traditional (Czech) glass techniques, as well as the experimentation that plays a leading role in Nannings work. How can we recognise this experimentation in her latest designs? What are her sources of inspiration? And which technical steps lead to this magnificent result? This afternoon you will receive answers to all these questions.

Barbara Nanning

After graduating from the Amsterdam Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Barbara Nanning gained recognition for her ceramic works. In Leerdam, she started working with glass for the first time, the material she would focus on exclusively from then on. She achieved international fame in glass art and was introduced to sophisticated techniques, especially in the Czech Republic, the centre of the glass world. Her versatile body of work can be found in many museum and private collections in the Netherlands and abroad.
