Jaehun Park, Sun Rotation, 2022

Come and have a drink with the artists who created new works for the municipal collection Amstelveen. Among them are Jaehun Park (South Korea, 1986), Mitchell Thar (United States, 1991) and Yana Naidenov (Mozambique, 1988). These artists have responded to the Amstelveen landscape in their own way, varying from digital sculptures to installations.

Jaehun Park (1986) – In his artworks, video artist Jaehun Park focuses on the impact of capitalism on the world around us. People always want more; in his work, this results in spooky urban scenes.

Mitchell Thar (1991) – In a three-part project, Thar documented the changes in Uilenstede and Kronenburg, the neighbourhood where he lives. He investigated the development of the neighbourhood - a mix of residential housing, student flats, offices, empty buildings and the Middelpolder in the background.

Yana Naidenov (1988) – In Darkstrata, Yana Naidenov uses advanced ceramic techniques to reflect on the development of the nocturnal landscape of Amstelveen. The artist creates three-dimensional collages, a mix of sculptures, installations, collages and digital media, which she uses to depict the nocturnal, urban landscape.
