Live restoration of Stations of the Cross Urbanus Church

  • Museum JAN 50 Dorpsstraat Amstelveen, NH, 1182 JE Netherlands (map)

Every Saturday, from 8 October until 26 november

(except for Saterday 29 October)

In the months of October and November, visitors to Museum JAN will be able to observe the restoration of the work Jesus laid in the tomb from the Urbanus Church in Bovenkerk. Restorer Jazzy de Groot has been working on the damaged Stations of the Cross by artist Frans Loots (1863-1924) for four years. They were severely damaged during a devastating fire in the Urbanus Church in 2018. You will be able to see the restorer's challenges and ask her any questions you may have.

In addition, Dolf Middelhoff will deliver lectures on the works of Haarlem church painter Frans Loots, creator of the Stations of the Cross, on two Wednesdays.

Jazzy de Groot is a paintings restorer with a professional doctorate in the restoration of cultural heritage. She has worked as a restorer in various museums and has been active as a freelance restorer since 2017.
