Which contemporaries and art movements inspired Otto B. de Kat (1907-1995), and which artists, like him, tried to capture ‘the soul of things’? Find out during this art history lecture!
Art historian Mirelle Nunes takes you through De Kat's painting, in which the artist explored various new artistic movements of his time such as pointillism, cubism and expressionism. His tranquil landscapes, portraits and still lifes, influenced by greats such as Matisse, Cézanne and Mondrian, he brought to life with a loose touch and beautiful areas of colour.
A heritage specialist and art historian, Mirelle Nunes lectures at current exhibitions throughout the Netherlands with her company Kunst uit Zeist.
